A Linn Ware mug, confirmed by the impressed "LW" mark on the base — the historic South African pottery tracing back to Olifantsfontein, founded by potters trained at the Ceramic Studio and later backed by Sir Thomas Cullinan.

A deep blue-teal glaze fading toward the rim, in the studio's characteristic double-glaze technique.

No chips or cracks.

Backstory

Linn Ware production ran until around 1962, making it one of South Africa's first serious studio pottery movements at a time with very few equivalents — work that's since earned real recognition in the country's design history, rather than being dismissed as ordinary old crockery.

This mug, in a deep blue-teal fading toward the rim, shows the studio's double-glaze technique taken in a slightly different tonal direction — further proof that no two firings ever turned out quite alike.
