A leaf-form dish from Globe Potteries, South Africa — confirmed by the impressed "GLOBE" mark on the base, the same maker as our basket vase, collected alongside Linn Ware and Lucia Ware in serious South African ceramics circles.

A sculptural, organic leaf shape in a mottled reactive green glaze, with the characteristic depth and variation that comes from this kind of glaze technique.

Backstory

According to auction house records, Globe produced a wide domestic range — jugs, mugs, cups and saucers, teapots — alongside more decorative pieces like this leaf dish. Everything was hand-thrown, with restrained but genuinely interesting mottled glazing, no two pieces quite alike.

Notably, Globe operated successfully for years without ever really marketing itself — no exhibitions, no commercial fairs — relying purely on the quality of the work itself to find its audience.
