A genuine antique Transvaal riempie side chair in tambotie — a dense, richly coloured indigenous South African hardwood long prized for fine furniture. The pierced backrest splat and crest rail are typical of traditional Transvaal joinery of the period.
Restrung with proper raw-hide riempies, in the traditional woven pattern rather than modern leather strips. Restored but not sanded. Cleaned and polished by hand.
