Dartmouth Pottery Green Fish Gurgle Jug — 26cm, Made in Dartmouth, Devon, Vintage

A classic fish-shaped gurgle jug from Dartmouth Pottery in Devon, marked Made in Dartmouth on the base. The fish stands upright on a round foot with its mouth open as the spout, and its curled tail forms the handle. The hollow tail is what makes the famous "gluggle" sound as you pour.

Finished in a rich, deep green glaze over finely moulded scales, fins and gills. At 26cm it's one of the larger sizes, and it works as well with flowers as it does on a shelf with other vintage pottery.

Condition: No chips. The glaze shows fine crazing consistent with age.
